What is Instagram Reels?

Instagram Reels is a Instagram newly added feature which allow user/creator to  create and share short video clips of about 15 seconds with background music similar to competitor app TikTok. 

It enabled a chance to users to get famous by  shoot video, add filters and music from Instagram's catalogued and share it beyond the platforms.

This feature is first rolled out in France and Germany, and recently introduced in India once tiktok got banned. 

Where do I find Instagram Reels option and what is prerequisites for it?

The only prerequisite is you must have Instagram account and app downloaded in your phone.

To see Reels option  you must have to add at least 1 story on Instagram.

How to use Instagram Reels?

What all are the features of Instagram Reels?

We are going to cover both the question in this section as both are inter-relatable.

• Open Instagram app on your smartphone.
• Click on camera on top left corner or Story.

• You will see 3 options at the bottom of the app i.e. Live, Story and Reels, Select Reels from them.

• Once Reels feature is on your screen you can record video, add audio to it, add filters and set timer with that video to make it attractive and real.
• press white circular icon having camera inside to record videos.
• Click on Music icon to add Music and audios to your video- you can choose music from Instagram music library, it allows to choose any part of video and it shows lyrics on screen for lip sync.
• Click on Smiley icon to add filter to your video- it has large variety of filter out of which you can choose your favorite one,
• You can manage speed of video by tapping on Fast Forward icon.
• You can set length of your video by clicking on Timer icon.

Features of Instagram Reels:

Instagram have many features already added in Reels, But it is still under testing phase as it has not been launched World Wide, It is limited to some countries for now, So we can assume many new features in Instagram Reels in future.

As we can see for now Reels has only 4 features.

Audio: You can add different music and audio from whole bunch of musics and audio from Instagram Music library, You can search music suitable for your video. It also shows lyrics on screen for lip sync.

Speed: We can manage speed of our video by clicking on speed (fast forward) icon.

The feature allow you to choose between 0.3x to 3.0x speed to record your video.

Effects: We can choose verify of effects/filter like we use in Bloomberg on Instagram and make our video more interactive and creative.

Timer: Reels also allows you to set a timer for the videos. You can choose how long your video clip must be. Right from 0.1 seconds to 15 seconds, you can choose duration as per your choice.

How can I find Reels videos?

You can see your own created Reels video or if you wish to see others video you can see that as well.

Your own Reels: If you have uploaded any Reels video then only you can see your Reels, On your feeds you can see 1 Reel icon to see your own reels video.

If you wish to see others Reels: You can simply go to Instagram discover tab and there you will find many videos, posts and Reels. click on any reels video you wanna see and enjoy.
